  • 300 g Butter

  • 185 g Demerara sugar

  • 375 g Porridge oats

  • 1 ½ tbsp golden syrup


  1. Heat oven to 180°C

  2. Line baking tray

  3. Place the margarine, sugar and syrup in a saucepan and melt together over a low heat

  4. Remove from heat and stir in porridge oats

  5. Spread evenly in the tray and cook in the oven for about 20 minutes

  6. Once cooked, remove from oven and leave to stand for 5 mins, then cut into squares.


The recipe may be altered by adding the following ingredients :-

Cherries, Raisins, Chocolate chips, Marshmallows, Dried fruit, Smarties
